From 23 to 25 October 2026, Sofia will host EIT Water Hackathon 2026. Mozaika invites students, PhD candidates, researchers, engineers, programmers, entrepreneurs and young professionals from across Europe to take part in the three-day event, which will be held in a hybrid format – both in person and online.
The hackathon will bring together interdisciplinary teams to work on real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions for the water sector. Key topics include water quality and the protection of aquatic ecosystems; the use of artificial intelligence, satellite observations and data analysis for smart water management; and the prevention and management of floods, droughts and other water-related disasters.
Participants will work with real-world data, digital platforms and technologies for analysis, forecasting and modelling, supported by mentors from academia, business, public administration and the water sector.
EIT Water Hackathon 2026 offers an opportunity to exchange knowledge, build new connections and develop practical solutions in an international and interdisciplinary environment. The event is open both to participants with technical skills and expertise and to those with ideas and an interest in addressing real-world challenges in the water sector.
