From Invisible Energy Use to Measurable Impact: STS Invest Holding Goes Solar with EENergy Support

STS Invest Holding AD, a Bulgarian SME in the ICT sector, implemented a 15 kWp rooftop photovoltaic system with support from the EENergy initiative, achieving about 35% reduction in grid electricity consumption for its server operations.

The company’s operations rely on continuously running server infrastructure, which accounts for approximately 98% of its total electricity consumption. In 2024 the company consumed 49,064 kWh electricity. With the installation of the photovoltaic system, STS Invest Holding significantly reduced its electricity consumption from the grid and its dependence on it – with 32,078 kWh used in 2025, and improved its overall energy efficiency succeeding to reduce its grid energy use with 16,986 kWh. The company is also exploring further opportunities to optimize energy use and enhance the efficiency of its digital infrastructure.

STS Invest Holding AD provides IT infrastructure and computing resources as a service. The company operates two server rooms equipped with modern hardware, high-speed connectivity, and system uptime exceeding 99.8%. Its clients include industrial enterprises, technology companies, and telecom operators. With its infrastructure operating 24/7/365, the company ensures reliable digital services while increasingly integrating sustainability into its core operations.

Beyond the immediate reduction in grid dependence, the project shows how digital businesses can contribute to the green transition through smart, infrastructure-based investments. Data centres, server rooms and IT environments are often invisible energy consumers, yet they offer strong potential for improvement when matched with on-site renewable generation. For STS Invest Holding, the investment is not only about lowering electricity use from the grid, but also about building a more resilient and sustainable service model for its clients.

With the support of the EENergy grant and Bulgarian Enterprise Europe Network partners – Regional Center “Ambitious Gabrovo” and Cluster Mechatronics and Automation, the latter acting as a sustainability advisor – the company is now on a clear path towards greener, more resilient business operations.
