Transition of the Energy-Intensive Industries’ Ecosystem to Climate Neutrality in Eastern Europe

The event will build on the findings, actions and conclusions of the European Research Area industrial technology roadmap for low-carbon technologies in energy-intensive industries, which was published by the European Commission in April 2022. The focus of the event will be on scaling up technological solutions in the power and industry sectors in Eastern Europe, which is critical to resolving the twin challenges for the EU of decarbonization and the fallout of the war in Ukraine.
In view of the EU’s long-term goal to become carbon neutral by 2050, the Fit-for-55 package and Europe’s energy security trilemma, energy and industry experts from different Member States and the World Bank will discuss the key findings from the roadmap, its implications for the industry and research sector in Eastern Europe, and reflect on the next steps for its implementation. The discussion will address critical immediate issues, such as industrial decarbonization responses to the rise in gas prices and expected shortages in gas supply in 2022. Join us for this critical discussion for the industrial development and prosperity of Eastern Europe and Bulgaria in the coming decade.
